Podiatry is a science that deals with foot health. An undergraduate doctoral degree in podiatry requires four years of education focused on the feet.
The podiatry professional identifies and treats diseases and deformities of the feet.
The podiatrist treats ailments such as corns and calluses, plantar warts, infections, athlete's foot, sports podiatry, etc.
He/She can perform minor surgery on onions, ingrown toenails, hammer toes, etc. He/She may prescribe an orthosis to correct or compensate for a defect or imbalance in the physiology of the feet.
